Works slowing Barham traffic

A Los Angeles Department of Water and Power project is slowing traffic in and out of Burbank on Barham Boulevard.

Work crews are boring underground on Barham near the Hollywood (101) Freeway on the southwest outskirts of Burbank, as a part of work on Los Angeles' power grid.

Los Angeles Public Works officials plan to keep one lane closed during off-peak hours and all lanes open during peak hours.

The work will continue through July 13.

Seniors receive waived fees for pets

Officials from the Burbank Animal Shelter announced Tuesday that the shelter will be temporarily reducing adoption and license fees for all senior citizens interested in owning a pet.

Between July 2 and 28, senior citizens who are 63 years old or older will be required only to pay $25 for the adoption of a dog and $15 to adopt a cat, said Burbank Police Department Sgt. Matthew Ferguson.

For more information, call the shelter at (818) 238-3340.
