In light of record temperatures in the Burbank and Los Angeles areas, city officials are urging residents to conserve their energy consumption over the weekend.

They ask that residents please turn off all non-essential appliances and equipment between 4 and 6 p.m. when the demand for energy peaks as people return from work.

The city has cooling centers at the Josyln Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave., and the McCambridge Recreation Center, 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd., open at 8 a.m., seven days a week.
