Walk Of Fame Inductees

The 2007 inductees into the Burbank Athletics Walk of Fame:

• She was hired as a full-time recreation leader in for the park and rec department in 1973 and was placed in charge of all girls’ and women’s sports programs.

• She was promoted to recreation supervisor and oversaw all programs at the three recreation centers, moving up to administrative analyst and then assistant park and recreation director.

• In December 1990, she was appointed director of the department and oversaw the building of the Izay Park Stadium, the Burbank Tennis Center, the outdoor roller hockey rink at Foy Park and the skateboard facility at Valley Park, among others. She is now the city manager.

• He began coaching children in the sports program in 1975 and has continued to coach for more than 30 years.

• He coached softball, basketball and flag football teams. One of his softball teams, the Her-icanes, won many Ponytail Softball championships, as well as a Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation title in 1993.

• After coaching his children, he has continued coaching basketball and flag football teams with fellow Walk of Fame Inductee Mike Graceffo.

• In the late 1940s, he organized his first boys’ baseball team in the city. The program eventually became the precursor to the Hap Minor Baseball organization.

• He was also active in the Burbank Civitan Club. In 1950, he became the club’s president and organized the first Civitan Day Parade and Baseball Jamboree.

• He was the backbone of the Civitan Day Parade and Baseball Jamboree, serving as committee chair for 20 years. He passed away in 1979.

• He began playing in the Police Athletic League, softball, Hap Minor Baseball, flag football and basketball leagues in the 1950s. He also played in adult leagues and also coached baseball and basketball.

• In a career that spans more than 40 years, he has been a recreation supervisor for the city for more than 23 years.

• A veteran of the Vietnam War, he is actively involved in various veterans’ affairs for the city.

• He played softball and basketball during the late 1940s through the early 1960s.
