The couple sat in the front row during the show and said they expected to take some ribbing. Lubas, who is balding, reminisced about the pain of the malady with Jim Witkowski.

“We enjoyed it,” he said. “He’s a fun person.”

Lubas was happy with the opening-night turnout.

“We had 30 people tonight,” he said. “That’s a great start. It’s going to be a wonderful venue.”

This Saturday’s headliner is Pete George.

“He’s one of the silliest comedians you’ll ever find,” Lubas said. “He does music parodies, and he is a world-class guitar player.”

John DiCrosta will headline on Oct. 27.

“He’s the funniest man on Earth,” Lubas said. “He has done New Year’s Eve three times in Valencia for me.”

Lubas was inspired to follow a comedy career by watching Steve Martin and George Carlin, he said, but people tell him he reminds them of Red Skelton.

“I love his silliness,” Lubas said. “My philosophy is, entertainment for grown-ups is missing. That’s what we’re going to provide.”

And his shows will never be raunchy, Lubas added.

“My shows are always PG-13,” he said.
