Walker, the founder of the New Era Seniors International, also presented volunteers with the awards, lapel pins and certificates given by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
There were 26 volunteers recognized with the awards.
Carolyn Holt and Peggy Barnes, both of La Crescenta, received the President’s Lifetime Call to Service Awards, for volunteers who have given at least 4,000 hours of service.
Boys & Girls Club gets beautified
Members of the Sunrise Kiwanis Club of Burbank along with John Burroughs High School Key Club members and Boys & Girls Club members participated in a planting project at the club site on Saturday.
They pulled weeds, tilled soil and planted flowers in the garden beds around the building at the Boys & Girls Club at 2244 N. Buena Vista St., Burbank.
The event was held in the morning, with 16 people working together on the project that included placing flowers on the front, sides and back areas of the building.
The Kiwanis club provided the flowers.
