Man arrested after alleged stabbing

A 22-year-old Burbank man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after assaulting his father with a screwdriver Tuesday, police said.

The man, whose name was not released and who reportedly has a history of mental problems, cut his 56-year-old father with a screwdriver after arguing with his 24-year-old brother, Burbank Sgt. Thor Merich said.

“The two sons got into an argument and the father stepped in,” Merich said. “The suspect tried to stab his brother when the father came in and grabbed him.

The father had a cut on his hand as a result of being stabbed with a screwdriver.”

The younger brother then left their home and was spotted by police 40 minutes later walking in an adjacent neighborhood, where he was arrested, Merich said.

The father suffered minor cuts and refused medical attention when paramedics arrived, Merich said.
