Whites Art Framing and Restoration in Montrose will sponsor the event, and its owner, Miguel Perez, will curate the show. Perez will select the Best of Show and contributing artists will select an additional prize, and the third prize will be selected by the public during the reception, Delu said.

The public can see the show during the restaurant’s hours every day but Monday, when it’s closed, and after 6 p.m. Fridays.

For February, Delu has been asked to do a one-man show of his garden succulents in oil on canvas.

There will be 15 pieces in the show, and they are all realistic paintings of succulents, Delu said.

The show is titled “My Thieves Garden” because he collected specimens to paint from neighbors’ yards, he said.

“They have unusual color combinations,” he said. “They are really interesting plants.”

Delu said he’s always painted but never took art lessons.

He tried acting while working toward a bachelor’s degree at San Francisco State University but found he was better suited for designing and painting sets, he said.
