BLUES ENTERTAINER HAS CD RELEASE AT JAX
New Orleans blues entertainer Scott Detweiler, a former Burbank resident, will celebrate the release of his new CD from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. today at Jax Bar and Grill, 339 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. There is no cover and no minimum.
“Made In New Orleans” contains 11 original songs from Detweiler’s catalog of music.
The CD has been produced by VAVV Records. In March, Detweiler walked into VAVV Recording Studios while scouting for a studio to produce a CD for a client. Ironically, he was offered a recording contract. During the course of his career, spanning more than 20 years, Detweiler has independently released eight CDs and countless live CDs; however, this marks his first affiliation with a recording company.
He premiered an original blues chamber composition, “The Sun Will Rise,” and then performed a set with his band in October at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park.
After studying jazz at Loyola in New Orleans and music composition at the University of New Orleans, Detweiler privately studied orchestration in the home of Ellis Marsalis.
In Los Angeles, he studied writing for strings with Henry Mancini and lyric writing at with K.A. Parker. For more information, go to www.myspace.com/ scottdetweiler.
