Q. Is there open access to the financial records?

A. Yes. Burbank Priority in Education is a full 501C3 nonprofit organization, and they are subjected to a public report each year. I am sure that if you wish to peruse the list of donors or review any other financial reporting, the Burbank Priority in Education organization will accommodate you.

Q. What is being done with the people’s contributions that have been collected?

A. They have been deposited into the account at the credit union. This account is restricted to the funding of the renovations of the fields.

Q: Why does Burbank Priority in Education not allow inquiries via their website?

A. If I am not mistaken, as the founding chairman, my contact information is still available on the site. Plus, I am a very accessible resident and volunteer in Burbank.

My contact information is available through so many public organizations and private entities as well. I am also aware that Judie Sarquiz, present chairwoman of the group, is very open and accessible.

She is also very careful not to mix her public administration position with her private philanthropic activities.

So to Prouser, I hope I brought some light to your questions. Speaking as the chairman of this hard-working committee, we would be grateful to you and your friends, family and business associates to see our fundraising efforts become an important part of your collective desires to see Burbank as a better place.

This campaign is basically providing safer outdoor “classrooms” to our students at both high schools. Their physical education classes as well as their extra curricular activities, which keep them fit to face each day with a healthy approach and attitude, are primary in our purpose and drive.

If at any time you have any questions, feel free to call me or any one of the committee members. I appreciate your interest and hope that you will join with us and gather support for this very worthwhile project that will make Burbank an even better place to learn and live.

?MICHAEL R. HASTINGS is a Burbank resident and chairman of the Fields Renovation Campaign.
