Burroughs 17, Pasadena 1: The Indians clinched a share of the Pacific League championship with an easy win Tuesday.
Burroughs (14-1, 10-1 in league) — ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division II — can win the title outright with a victory Thursday against host Burbank.
SOFTBALL
Burbank 14, Muir 0: Brianne Schafer was two for three and Kristin Peraza was two for four Thursday in pacing the Bulldogs to a Pacific League victory against the host Mustangs.
Burbank (15-1, 6-1) pitcher Kristin Peraza (15-1) had nine strikeouts to gain the win.
The Bulldogs are ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division III.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Providence d. Santa Clarita Christian, 25-21, 28-26, 25-20: The Pioneers earned an easy sweep on the road Friday in a Liberty League match.
Nico Pierson had 33 assists and 11 digs for Providence (8-8, 5-1). Teammates Jonathan DeClaro and Andy Park both contributed 10 kills each.
BASEBALL
Providence 11, L.A. Lutheran 1: The Pioneers got back on the winning track with a nonleague victory Monday at Foy Park.
Junior Trevor Johnson (1-3) pitched a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing only one walk to gain the win for Providence (7-8).
Johnson also went two for three with a triple and three runs scored. Teammate Anthony Scott went three for three with two doubles and a triple to raise his batting average to .444.
Buckley 3, Providence 1: The Griffins scored three runs in the second inning Thursday in a Liberty League win against the visiting Pioneers.
Providence (2-3 in league) scored a run in the seventh inning and had the tying run on second base when the game ended.
Devin Pugliese, Jake Johnson, and Jake Fuller each had two hits for Providence.
Viewpoint 9, Providence 5: The Pioneers pushed across four runs in the seventh inning but came up short Tuesday in a Liberty League game on the road.
Viewpoint scored five unearned runs on seven Providence errors.
Devin Pugliese, Jake Johnson and Trevor Johnson had two hits each for the Pioneers.
Burbank 11, Muir 0(five innings): Chris Montgomery and Grant Bushey had two hits each Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs to a Pacific League win at Muir.
Ben Levitt (4-4) struck out eight and threw a one-hitter over four innings to gain the win for Burbank (10-10-1, 5-4).
Burbank 10, Muir 0 (six innings): The Bulldogs had little trouble earning the Pacific League win Friday at home.
