BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Providence d. Santa Clarita Christian, 25-21, 28-26, 25-20: The Pioneers earned an easy sweep on the road Friday in a Liberty League match.
Nico Pierson had 33 assists and 11 digs for Providence (8-8, 5-1). Teammates Jonathan DeClaro and Andy Park both contributed 10 kills each.
BASEBALL
Providence 11, L.A. Lutheran 1: The Pioneers got back on the winning track with a nonleague victory Monday at Foy Park.
Junior Trevor Johnson (1-3) pitched a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing only one walk to gain the win for Providence (7-8).
Johnson also went two for three with a triple and three runs scored. Teammate Anthony Scott went three for three with two doubles and a triple to raise his batting average to .444.
Buckley 3, Providence 1: The Griffins scored three runs in the second inning Thursday in a Liberty League win against the visiting Pioneers.
Providence (2-3 in league) scored a run in the seventh inning and had the tying run on second base when the game ended.
Devin Pugliese, Jake Johnson, and Jake Fuller each had two hits for Providence.
Viewpoint 9, Providence 5: The Pioneers pushed across four runs in the seventh inning but came up short Tuesday in a Liberty League game on the road.
Viewpoint scored five unearned runs on seven Providence errors.

Ben Levitt (4-4) struck out eight and threw a one-hitter over four innings to gain the win for Burbank (10-10-1, 5-4).
