KAPPA DELTA SORORITY CELEBRATES STATE DAY

Members of Kappa Delta Sorority celebrated their State Day on May 3 at The Castaway. The San Fernando Valley Alumnae chapter hosted the event.

Marie Eriksen Kaden of Burbank was chairwoman with members from other Southern California alumnae chapters assisting.

Chelsea Columbo received the Kappa Delta Achievement Scholarship during the event. She attends San Diego State University and is a member of Beta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta. She maintains a 3.07 GPA and is an active member of two honor societies — Gamma Sigma Alpha, and the Order of Omega. She is a member of the University Honors program, and is majoring in political science and is earning minors in sociology and journalism

Kappa Delta is one of the 26 national Panhellenic sororities. Kappa Delta’s philanthropies are Girl Scouts of America and Prevent Child Abuse America.

? ? BURBANK RESIDENT PROMOTED TO NAVY SEAMAN

Navy Seaman Allison B. Palilla, daughter of Penny J. and Salvatore E. Palilla of Burbank, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training and was meritoriously promoted to her current rank at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Palilla completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Palilla is a 2004 graduate of John Burroughs High School.
