Police issue 24 tickets at DUI checkpoint

The Burbank Police Department issued 24 citations at its DUI checkpoint on Friday night.

Seven citations were given to unlicensed drivers, 16 citations were given for various driving infractions, and one citation was issued to a driver with a suspended license. Five vehicles were impounded.

A total of 1,260 cars passed through the checkpoint, and 825 drivers were screened for signs of driving under the influence.

Four drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The checkpoint, which took place between 9 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. at Glenoaks Boulevard and Cedar Avenue, was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
