Honoring Shuttle Disaster Victims

June 25, 2008

Pierce Brothers Valhalla and the Burbank Aviation Museum on Saturday dedicated a model space shuttle to the crews of the lost Challenger and Columbia shuttles at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood.

The model space shuttle was moved last year to the park, but the memorial wasn’t formally dedicated until this past weekend.

The shuttle model was donated to the park from the museum, which is located in the park.

Burbank Mayor Dave Golonski, retired astronaut Vance Brand and aviation pioneer Wally Funk spoke at the dedication.

A squadron of World War II fighter planes flew over the ceremony.
