LA PROVIDENCIA GUILD TOURS HOSPITAL

La Providencia Guild members and guests joined other Southern California guilds and affiliates to participate in Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Annual Tour on June 6. Bonnie McClure, chairwoman, and Suzanne Lapis, director of associates and affiliates at Childrens Hospital, directed the tour.

Accompanying Marilyn Teasley, president, on the tour were guild members Diane Campbell, Mary Christensen, Nancy Johnson, Maria Kerrigan, Darlene Lucas, Dolly Monte, Marjorie Overstreet, Malena Tappan, Elaine Thomas, Beverly Wardle, Gene Marie Watson and guests Ann Schwab and Paul Thomas.

After the tour, the group gathered in the board conference room for a presentation by Michael Jordan, manager of the hospital’s trauma department.

Founded in 1901, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has been treating seriously ill and injured children for more than a century, and it is acknowledged throughout the world for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health. Childrens Hospital is one of America’s premier teaching hospitals, affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of USC for more than five years. It is a national leader in pediatric research.

BURBANK CIVITAN CLUB HOSTS DANCE FINALE

Members of the Burbank Civitan Club hosted the last dance of the year for BCR — A Place to Grow on June 13 at McCambridge Recreation Center.

There were 150 people attending, who were served pizza, furnished by Burbank’s Victorio’s Pizza, along with cookies and beverages.

A check for $1,000 was presented to board of trustees member Brenda Strange, by Civitan Club President Randy Garcia and President-elect Elaine Paonessa. Also helping to keep the evening running smoothly was Pam Roldan, teacher and administrative assistant at BCR — a Place To Grow.

Other Civitan members and guests who were there to help were Joan Newbro, Dee Dee Ruhlow, Shari Epstein, Morey Goodstein, David Escobar, Richard Bertain, Bobbie Garcia, Kelly Bertain, and sons, Jordan and Jackson Bertain.

Preparations are underway for the Civitan Club’s Annual Baseball Jamboree on July 12 at George Izay Park.

CABRINI LITERARY GUILD INSTALLS OFFICERS

The Cabrini Literary Guild installed officers and disbursed philanthropy funds at its June meeting at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.
