Franchise recognized as a national top seller

Money Mailer of the Valleys, a locally owned franchise of the Money Mailer direct-marketing company, was recognized as one of the nation’s top 15 sellers out of more than 250 branches.

The local operation, owned by Burbank residents John and Carol Salter, won the company’s President Club award for its performance.

The award was given at the company’s three-day convention in Miami.

Money Mailer’s franchises serve as marketing consultants for local businesses and help them develop a direct marketing plan, according to a press release.

The company was named Entrepreneur Magazine’s top advertising services franchise for 2009.

Obama inspires Armenian community service event

The Burbank Armenian National Committee held a community service event Monday inspired by President Barack Obama.

The “Cans for the Cause” took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, acknowledged by Obama and presidents before him as a day of community service.

The committee collected canned food items at the Burbank Armenian Community Center and donated them to the Los Angeles Food Bank.
