Western Nelson was a double winner in the 1,600 (4:30) and 3,200 (9:34), Dustin Blankenship took the 800 (2:05), Josh Velandria won the 300 hurdles (41.3), Ronald Reyes won the high jump (5 feet 8) and Jeff Dumas won the triple jump (40-11).
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Canyon 100, Burroughs 36: The Indians couldn’t win the nonleague meet Thursday on the road.
Taryn Campos had the only victories for Burroughs, taking the 100 meters (12.8) seconds and the 200 (26.2).
She will attend Boise State in the fall.
SOFTBALL
Burroughs junior varsity 5, Granada Hills Kennedy junior varsity 0: Haley Schulman pitched a one-hit shutout to lead the Indians to a nonleague win Wednesday at Olive Park.
Schulman completely dominated the Kennedy hitters, allowing her first hit of the year to the first batter she faced. However, she then retired the next nine batters in a row, including the last eight by strike outs.
Schulman went seven innings, allowed one hit and no runs, walked one and struck out 13 to pace Burroughs (3-0).
Schulman has pitched 10 innings and allowed only one hit, while walking one and striking out 22. She has yet to allow a run.
Burroughs had nine hits against Kennedy and was led by lead-off hitter Kristen Nunn with three hits. Nunn also drove in a run and scored the Indians’ first run of the game in a two-run first inning.
Allie Grimaldo and Victoria Santos each had two hits. Santos drove in Grimaldo with a first inning-single and then scored the Indians’ third run with a fourth-inning triple.
Grimaldo has had two hits in each of Burroughs’ first three games. Schulman and Jessica Rodriguez also had hits.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Burbank 10, Flintridge Prep 8: Arthur Karagezian and Pete Sangsuriyakul didn’t lose any games en route to helping the Bulldogs pick up a nonleague victory Friday at Scholl Canyon Tennis Center.
Kahree Bellow had the other singles wins for the Bulldogs, who clinched the win when Kevin Han and David Jung teamed up for a 6-1 doubles win.
