Adult center offers opera classes

A six week class, “Introduction to Opera” for those 55 and older will be offered at 2 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Tuesday at the Joslyn Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave., Burbank.

The class will cover the history and how one can enjoy opera.

The course fee is $7 or $5 with Burbank Senior Activity Card. A field trip to attend a Metropolitan Opera HD broadcast at the AMC Theater is also planned for an additional $22 fee. To register or for more information, call 238-5353 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Senior Games applicants wanted

Applications are available for the Burbank Senior Games from May 6 to 16 in Burbank.

Applications are available at local Burbank adult center, libraries, or online at Burbankusa.com (scroll down to green icon).

The Burbank Senior Games include friendly competition for people 55 and older in a variety of events including bowling, cribbage, fun walk, golf, horseshoes, party bridge, pool, softball, skip-bo and tennis.

A celebration luncheon is included for all participants on May 16. Call (818) 238-5353.
