ORGANIZERS ARE COUNTING DOWN DAYS TO PARADE

“Burbank on Parade Goes Hollywood” is the 2009 theme selected by the Burbank on Parade organizers, and this year’s parade will begin at 11 a.m. April 25.

The parade route is down Olive Avenue from Keystone to Lomita streets.

The parade entries will honor the “Hollywood” theme and will consist of decorated floats, local high school and marching bands from across the country, dignitaries, equestrian, celebrities and Burbank organizations including the Burbank Tournament of Roses Assn. and The Road Kings Car Club.

Burbank on Parade is made possible by the support of the city of Burbank including the Police and Fire Departments, businesses in Burbank and Burbank residents, all of whom provide their time as well as financial support. COURTROOM ARTIST IS SPEAKER FOR ART GROUP

Burbank Art Assn. will have Mona Shafer Edwards, nationally known courtroom artist and fashion design illustrator, as its guest speaker during the meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 301 E. Olive Ave., Room 102, in Burbank.

Shafer Edwards works as both a courtroom artist for television, during trials where photographers are not allowed, and as illustrator in the fashion design industry.

She will be bring samples of her work, including her new book, “Captured! Inside the World of Celebrity Trials.” There will be time for questions. For more information, BurbankArtAssociation. homestead.com.

UNIVERSITY WOMEN HAVE SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON

The Burbank University Women’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon and Card Party will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 at Joslyn Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave., Burbank.

Games featured will be bridge, Mahjong, Ship-O and Rummy Tile.

Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased from Bea Bowker by calling (818) 767-8111. All proceeds provide university scholarships for Burbank young women.

EMBLEM CLUB DINNER NIGHT RAISES FUNDS

The Burbank Emblem Club No. 86 is having a charity fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. April 21 at Tequilas Mexican restaurant, 4310 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank.

Happy Hour from is from 4 to 6 p.m. Mention Emblem Club for credit, and take-out orders count as well.
