Seminar on biofuels station at university

Warren Wagner, principal architect of W3, in conjunction with a small group of students, will host a seminar from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Woodbury University highlighting work being done to analyze, research and design a biofuels station.

The station includes zip car rentals, on-site micro production, cafe space and retail and fleet fueling pumps.

The event promises to challenge how individuals view fueling conditions as well as propose tangible solutions to America’s immediate dependency on foreign oil.

The day will also include a mini biodiesel car rally and opportunities to mingle with professors.

Ben & Jerry’s handing out freebies at Burbank store

Ben & Jerry’s at 164 E. Palm Ave., offered free ice cream cones to customers Tuesday in celebration of its 31st annual Free Cone Day.

The tradition started 30 years ago when business owners, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, wanted to say thanks to the community after celebrating their first year in business.

Burbank firefighters scooped up longtime favorites such as Chunky Monkey and Cherry Garcia as well as new releases such as Chocolate Macadamia, featuring its Fair Trade Chocolate and Vanilla ice creams swirled with fudge-covered macadamia nuts.
