Woodbury to host economic summit

Economic leaders will hold a business summit beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Woodbury University Auditorium.

“Navigating Today, Innovating Tomorrow,” a collaboration of the city, Burbank Chamber of Commerce and Woodbury University, is designed to highlight the opportunities available to local businesses, especially in the harsh economic climate.

City Manager Mike Flad will provide a snapshot of local economic conditions, to be followed by panel that includes Warner Bros. Senior Vice President Lisa Rawlings, Woodbury University Vice President Don St. Clair and Poquito Mas owner Kevin McCarney.

Tickets are $25 in advance, or $35 the day of the event. A booth costs $50 and includes one entry ticket for the summit.

Actors approve new successor agreements

Members of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Actors overwhelmingly approved three-year successor agreements to their expired TV and radio contracts.

About 94% of members supported the new agreements, which include a new payment structure for commercials made for the Internet and new media.

The contracts cover actors working in commercials made for and reused on television, radio and the Internet.

The agreements also included a pay raise that will generate more than $108 million in member earnings, according to the unions.
