She embarked on a 10-college tour, visiting institutions like Duke University, the University of California and Arizona State University. She made visits to four schools in California, two in Texas and one each in Florida, North Carolina, Arizona and Arkansas.
When Tubert weighed all of her options, she made her decision, as she gave a verbal commitment to Arkansas.
“Arkansas just felt like the right place for me,” said Tubert, who will have to wait until the national signing day in February to officially become a Razorback. “It is a place where I wanted to be and a place that really wanted me I felt at home there.”
Tubert said she definitely took her time before making her final decision.
“The whole process of visiting the colleges was so exciting for me,” said Tubert, who has only been golfing for four years. “I was able to fly all over the country visiting some very nice schools.
“But I made a board and I wrote out all the pros and cons for my final choices. I finally picked Arkansas because the school is very nice, the coaches are great and they had a good program for my major.”
Tubert said she is leaning toward majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology and nutrition.
“I had never even visited the state of Arkansas before I made my first visit,” Tubert said. “The school was maybe the seventh or eighth that I visited. But I’ve been back there a second time and I think it’s a good fit for me.”
The Razorbacks have enjoyed successful seasons recently under Coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. Earlier this month, Arkansas qualified for the NCAA West Regional Championship in Tempe.
Arkansas remained in the top 25 much of the season and received the program’s seventh consecutive NCAA Regional bid.
Unfortunately for Arkansas, it missed the cut and didn’t move on to the NCAA Championship.
In 2008, the Razorbacks placed second in the Southeastern Conference, tied for fifth at the West Regional and finished eighth in the NCAA Championship.
