SENIOR ADULTS HONORED BY CITY OF BURBANK

Seven Burbank residents whose ages range from 61 to 95 were honored May 19 by the Burbank City Council for their volunteer work.

Grace Mylroie Patz was the recipient of the County of Los Angeles Outstanding Older American Award for her volunteer service at the Providence St. Joseph Medical Guild, Beta Sigma Phi, including various fundraising functions, and surpassing 15,000 service hours.

Jesse Fox was recognized for his service to the Salvation Army, Optimist Club and John Burroughs High School sports programs.

Violet Lasky received accolades for her work at Tuttle Center, the Parkinson’s Group and with various fundraising activities.

Jacquelyn Light has donated time to the Burbank Police Department and the Burbank Animal Shelter.

Jenice McGlynn has been a longtime member of La Providencia Guild in support of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles as well as the Foothill Civitan Club.

Herb Vincent was honored for his service to the Burbank Historical Society, Emmanuel Church and Burbank Noon Kiwanis.

Connie Wilson was acknowledged for her volunteer service with the League of Women Voters, La Providencia Guild and service to the State Professional Standards Program.

YOUNGSTER BRINGS HOME QUITE A FRESH CATCH

Mitchell Kodama, 11, a student at Roosevelt Elementary School, caught a stringer of fish while vacationing with his family during Memorial Day weekend at Lake Mary in Mammoth.

Mitchell is the son of Burbank resident Mike Kodama, the former boys soccer coach at John Burroughs High School.
