“This is just a very talented group of girls,” Burbank Coach Bruce DelCastilo said. “We had great pitching, great fielding and they girls can hit.”
Ashley Linda hit a triple in the first inning to score two runs to get Burbank started.
“We have been able to do that a lot this season,” DelCastilo said of jumping on opponents early. “I tell them to be aggressive and try to make things happen at the plate. We were able to do that [Thursday].”
Delaney Nicol slugged a solo home run in the third inning.
Linda, Kaitlin Okimoto and Davina DelCastilo have led the offensive charge for Burbank throughout the season.
DelCastilo, the team’s No. 1 pitcher, was given the day off Thursday. However, Jade Teetsel got the call in the circle and did a solid job, earning the shutout while scattering six hits.
“Our defense really played well,” Bruce DelCastilo said. “[The Red Hots] were able to get a runner to third base in the first inning, but that was about it.”
The coach said Thursday’s result is probably the smallest margin of victory for his squad all season.
