Guzman’s injuries were not disclosed in the lawsuit, although it did refer to a permanent, serious injury.

Guzman is seeking more than $25,000 in damages.

Glendale Superior Court – Limited Jurisdiction

Attorneys expect to get paid for representing a client during a lawsuit. So when the client doesn’t pay, he or she becomes the cause of a lawsuit.

Attorneys at the law firm Holmes & Holmes represented Jeannette Messina in a family law case in 2006. She signed a written contract with the partners, agreeing to pay $425 per hour for their services.

But the attorneys claim Messina never paid them, even after they sent out letters noting her debt.

After Messina allegedly failed to respond to a 30-day notice to sue, the attorneys filed their legal claim last week in Glendale Superior Court. They are seeking $6,644.69 in fees.
