Car Plays makes its Burbank debut

The Car Plays will make its Burbank debuts Thursday through Sunday at Woodbury University.

Car Plays strives to capture Los Angeles’ car culture by showing performances in actual cars.

The work is the brainchild of Paul Nicolai Stein. The audience views a series of plays while seated in vehicles with the actors.

At the conclusion of each 10-minute skit, carhops open the doors, and the audience is led from one car play to the next.

Each row, or a series of five cars, is named after well-known Los Angeles streets, such as Figueroa Boulevard, Ventura Boulevard and Ocean Avenue. Each row reflects stories associated with the area the street runs through.

A benefit gala and performance will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday.

“Car Plays” also runs Friday through Sunday, with shows at 7, 8 and 9 p.m.

General admission is $20.
