Burbank (128 points) finished ahead of runner-up Flint Canyon (121). Each point represents a set won.
The A-3 league consists of eight teams from the San Fernando Valley to La Cañada Flintridge. The squad’s captain was Ilene Bernard.
Burroughs girls’ basketball team enjoys some fine results: The Indians have had mixed results early in summer-league play.
Taking part in their own Burroughs Tournament last week, the Indians defeated Valencia, 39-25. Erika Rivera paced the locals with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Christine Aguilar had seven points.
In the Valencia League, Rivera had eight points and seven rebounds in a loss to Stockdale, 55-27.
The Indians got back on track in the Burbank League, defeating Granada Hills, 45-16. Aguilar had 11 points and Lisha Elsenbach added eight points for Burroughs.
The Indians struggled in the Saugus Tournament, falling to West Ranch 41-36. Elsenbach had 10 points.
They also were beaten in the tourney by Harvard- Westlake, 39-28. But Burroughs bounced back to down Oxnard, 71-17, as Rivera poured in a career-high 20 points. Shannon Kermah added eight points and five steals and Chelsea Rhamdeow had eight points.
The Indians faced Pacific League foe Crescenta Valley in the Saugus event, as they fell to the Falcons, 45-35. Marilyn Flynn had 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks and Elsenbach added eight points and nine rebounds.
In the Taft League, the Indians fell to the hosts, 56-45. Aguilar had 12 points.
