Serving hefty portions, fair prices

If you are looking for a place that you can take your family out for breakfast, get an enormous amount of food and not have to spend a fortune doing so, Eat’n Park is your solution.

Located in Burbank on West Victory Boulevard, a stone’s throw from Buena Vista Street, Eat’n Park boasts “The Best Omelets in Burbank” and “Fresh Homestyle Cooking.”

And I am here to vouch for both of those statements.

For all that the restaurant lacks in exterior and interior decoration, this old-time, greasy-spoon-style diner more than makes up for in portion size. While many restaurants seem to live by the adage “quality over quantity,” at Eat’n Park they give you both quality and quantity — at a fraction of the cost.

The sign outside says they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is true, but my only complaint is that they’re only open from 6 in the morning until 1:45 in the afternoon. While I can eat a good breakfast at any time of the day, including dinner, I feel odd about having dinner for breakfast, but that’s just me.

Their breakfast menu has all the traditional favorites, including eggs, any style, with sausage, bacon, ham and even pork chops or top sirloin steak ranging from $4.25 to $12.95, and pancakes and French toast from $5.25 to $7.50.

They also have standard omelets and specialty omelets, all of which can be made for one or two people. The Sheep Herder ($10.20 single, $14.25 double), sounds interesting. It’s filled with bacon, ground beef, spinach and onions and topped with American cheese.

Another specialty omelet is the Combination Seafood plate ($11.20 single, $15.25 double) filled with crab meat, clams, oysters, shrimp, fish and topped with a sauce.

Then there’s the Crazy Omelet ($10.70 single, $14.45 double) plate, a unique mix of all-beef frankfurters, chili, cheddar cheese, onions and green pepper.The restaurant also has salads, such as the Stuffed Avocado Salad ($8.50), burgers and sandwiches, like the New Yorker ($8.95), and entrees such as Pot Roast of Beef ($9.25) and Chicken Fried Steak ($11.95).
