CITY HALL — City Manager Mike Flad on Wednesday named William Yeomans to the post of interim Financial Service Director, relieving Deputy City Manager Justin Hess of his double duties.
Yeomans, a 20-year veteran of financial administration, is scheduled to begin work Monday.
“In these challenging economic times, having someone with his expertise in municipal finance is essential,” Flad said.
Hess, who served as interim director since April 2008, worked in both capacities since being named deputy city manager in January.
The position is nothing new for Yeomans. Since retiring from the La Puente in 2001, he has served as interim finance director in Calabasas, National City, Hawthorne, Goleta and Santa Clarita.
Yeomans has also led finance divisions in Palos Verdes Estates South Pasadena.
He is former chairman of the South Bay Section of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and Finance Officers Committee of the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority.
Yeomans graduated Occidental College before obtaining his master’s degree in administration from the UC Irvine.
The city will continue its search for a permanent finance director.
