He said he also realizes that his customers may not have days to wait to have their machines returned to them, especially students.
“In the long term, I want to keep computers running as long as possible,” Mariano said.
When a customer leaves his shop, Mariano will usually follow up with the client to see how the machine is functioning and whether it needs more attention.
Computers are also critical for small businesses, especially when it comes to a business’ online presence, he said. Without a dependable computer framework, he said, and a weak online presence, small companies can quickly fail, “especially during this recession,” Mariano said.
E-Geniuses has also partnered with Splyce Media Group to help create websites for small businesses.
Home computer users can also tap Mariano’s services. He also plans to provide workshops where home computer users can learn how to back up their data, stay secure while performing online banking and work with photographs.
“We want to have that place where you can go — no pretenses, no standoffish attitudes,” said Splyce Media Group co-owner Angela Bigalbal. “Sometimes you want someone that can just help. We know computers, and we know people.”
For some, going to a computer repair shop can be overwhelming, especially if the customer isn’t tech-savvy, and some places treat the customer with a condescending attitude, Mariano said.
At E-Geniuses, the difference will be much different, with Mariano taking the time to explain computer malfunctions and repairs, he said.
