GIRLS’ TENNIS

Pacific League semifinals/finals: Burbank High sophomore Tatevik Harutyunyan was able to advance to the final singles match of the Pacific League tournament Wednesday at Pasadena High.

Unfortunately for Harutyunyan, she wasn’t able to claim a league championship, losing to Francis Dean of Arcadia, 6-4, 6-1.

Harutyunyan, who was seeded fourth, was trounced, 6-1, in the first set of her semifinal match against Arcadia’s Nadia Pacheco, but bounced back to win the second set, 6-2, and advance to the finals in a 10-6 tiebreaker.

By finishing second in league, Harutyunyan earned a spot in the CIF Southern Section individual competition.

FOOTBALL

Burbank junior varsity 36, Pasadena junior varsity 14: Burbank improved to 4-2 in the Pacific League with a win Thursday at Burbank High.

Despite several key players sidelined with injuries, Burbank played well, as its defense stepped up. On offense, Mitch Camacho scored three touchdown and Matt Caldwell and Edward Badalian had a touchdown each.

Burroughs junior varsity 46, Crescenta Valley junior varsity 14: The Indians had little trouble gaining the Pacific League win.

Burroughs freshmen 44, Crescenta Valley 14: The Falcons were no match for the Indians, who gained the Pacific League victory.
