There will be a special election to fill the state Assembly seat vacated by Paul Krekorian, which will no doubt bring out the political fireworks and renew public awareness of just how important it is to have a representative fighting for local interests in Sacramento — especially in times like these.
The job market will surely improve, and the economy will be better for it. After a depressing 2009 that saw the loss of several high-profile retailers, this community could use any bit of good news.
Perhaps 2010 will be marked by how far we’re able to distance ourselves from all that took place in 2009. Progress may be measured by how well our elected officials handle the fiscal calamity imposed by Sacramento. The term “success” might be applied to just being able to hang on and wait out the final throes of the recession.
