After a career that stretched three decades, former Burbank Police Chief Tim Stehr’s Tim Stehr’s watch as the city’s top cop came to an end last month. To show their appreciation for his service to the community, close to 300 people braved the blustery weather and rain to give Stehr a final salute Jan. 20 at the Holiday Inn Burbank Media Center.

Beginning his law enforcement career as a police explorer with the Monrovia Police Department, Stehr came to Burbank in the late 1970s as a police cadet.

Within a short time, he became a police officer and over the years moved up in the ranks from detective to sergeant to lieutenant, where he worked in the Patrol Division and the Detective Bureau, leading the Gang Detail, Persons Detail, Juvenile Detail, Identification Section and Special Weapons Team.
