TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank in Camarillo Classic: Senior boys’ runner Greg Dotson had an impressive double win Saturday in the event at Camarillo High.

Dotson won the boys’ 800 meters in 1 minute, 53.34 seconds to set a new meet record. He also set a personal-best time in the boys’ 1,600 when he clocked a 4:18.82.

In other boys’ results, Andrew Wernstrum took second in the freshmen- sophomore 800 (2:06. 92), Sergio Fraire finished third in the frosh-soph 1,600 (4:40.62) and was fourth in the frosh-soph 3,200 (10:24.64) and Steven Girod placed fifth in the frosh-soph long jump (17 feet 11).

On the girls’ side, junior McKenzie Paul finished second in the 800 (2:23.76) and fifth in the 1,600 (5:26.07) and Gina Levitt took second in the 400 (1:01.53).

Burroughs in California Relays: The Indians had two top-six finishes in Saturday’s event at Cerritos College.

Austin Allen had a 14-foot mark in the boys’ pole vault to place fourth and Justice Shank placed sixth in the girls’ high jump with a mark of 5-0.

Providence in Ontario Christian Invitational: Freshman Marlyin Petrov set a school record of 12.7 seconds in the girls’ 100 meters in the event Sat.

Teammate Jaii Jiang ran 6:08 in the girls’ 1,600 and Adam Petys ran to a 5:07 in the boys’ 1,600.

BASEBALL

Catalina Foothill (Arizona) 3, Burbank 1: Despite losing Friday in the Tucson Conquistadors Classic, the Bulldogs paced fourth in the event at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson.

The tournament featured 22 teams.

Daniel Starkand went three for three, Lonnie Kauppila had a single and two stolen bases and Brandon Zepeda scored the only Burbank run. Burbank also received singles by Dylan Mersola, McCauley Taylor, David Goldberg and Chase Mersola.

Bellarmine-Jefferson 17, St. Genevieve 0: The Guards began Santa Fe League play on a high note Friday with a win at Brace Park.

Pitcher Patrick Haney carried a perfect game into the fourth inning and had a no-hitter going into the fifth. He pitched five innings, striking out nine and walking one.

At the plate, Haney was three for four with a triple and two runs batted in. Teammate Michael Martinez was four for four with two RBI, Mitch Kellogg scored three runs and had two walks and Matt Landini had three walks and two RBI.

SOFTBALL

Village Christian 2, Canyon 1: Crusaders’ Coach and Burbank resident Mike Delaney got his 100th career win Monday when his team recorded the nonleague victory.

Burbank resident Emily Seidel struck out 15 to record her sixth win of the season. She was also three for three with a home run.

Burbank 14, Pasadena 1: The Bulldogs opened the Pacific League season Tuesday with a victory at McCambridge Park.

Ashley Russo got the win in the circle for Burbank (6-3).

Lysette Perez was two for two with a double and a run batted in, Megan Schafer had a triple and an RBI and Kassi Smith and Kassy Uchida knocked in runs.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs d. San Marino, 25-17, 25-9, 28-30, 25-15: The Indians improved to 6-5 Monday with a nonleague win at home.

Lucas Yanez had 22 digs, and kills, Nick La France had 16 kills, Ike Nwachie had nine kills and Tyler Yanez had 36 assists and four blocks.
