Thinking ‘Big Top’ for parade

One of the entries illustrating the circus theme is the Reel Cowboys, a nonprofit organization comprising actors and stunt people from Western films, Miller said.

“They will be dressed as rodeo clowns and jugglers performing with wonderful and crazy antics all in the fun of celebrating the big top,” she said.

The last entry has been created by the Burbank Tournament of Roses Assn. Members used portions of the float that won the Animation Trophy in this year’s Tournament of Roses parade — “Barnyard Aces.”

“It’s really going to be something else,” she said. “They are utilizing some of the float from their Tournament of Roses entry and adapted their new float to the circus theme of Burbank on Parade.”

The float, titled “Horsing Around,” repositioned the pilot from the Rose float entry in the front seat and the horse in the back seat, so he’s the one steering the biplane and taking all his barnyard friends for a spin, including chickens and roosters, said Brian Cozakos, chairman of the Tournament of Roses float for the Burbank parade.

The float is dedicated to longtime association member and Past President Don Hames, who died March 1, Miller said.
