Indians set for title push

Burroughs 16, Muir 0: Pitchers Quinn Rodriguez and Kayla Dalley combined on a no-hitter Tuesday to pace the Indians to a Pacific League win on the road.

Burroughs can win its first league championship in 28 years with a victory Thursday against Burbank.

Emily Odio had a home run and a triple for the Indians (16-9, 12-1 in league).

Burroughs 4, Oaks Christian 2: The Indians overcame an early deficit to win the nonleague game Monday.

Burroughs pitcher Heather Haynes gave up two unearned runs in the first inning, but shut down the Lions the rest of the way to earn the complete-game win.


Shannon Trujillo was two for three with a run batted in and a run scored and Jena Serranzana knocked in the winning run with a two-run double.

Village Christian 11, Paraclete 0: Burbank resident Emily Seidel and teammate Dani Phillips hit back-to-back home runs Monday to help lead the Crusaders to an Olympic League win on the road.

Rachel Temple, another resident, had a double and knocked in a run for the Crusaders (20-4, 5-2).


Burroughs 22, Muir 0: The Indians had an easy time Tuesday earning the Pacific League victory.


Burbank, Burroughs in Pacific League freshmen-sophomore finals: Two local athletes and oe relay team were able to win league championships Friday in the event at Glendale High.

Winning titles were Burbank’s Kayla Martil in the girls’ 800 meters (2 minutes, 31.15 seconds), Burroughs’ Brandon Andrade in the boys’ 800 (2:00) and the and the Indians boys’ 4x400 team of Michael Acosta, Ryan Johnson, Alec Villalpando and Brandon Andrade (3:37).

Other Burbank top-three finishes included Paris Armelim in the girls’ 100 (third; 13.4) and the 200 (second; 28.40), CJ Chua in the girls’ 800 (second; 2:32.03), Christina Shamirian in the girls’ 1,600 (second; 5:39), Hannah Barlow in the girls’ 300 hurdles (third; 51.67) and the triple jump (second; 29 feet 5 1/2 ), Alec Naveira in the boys’ 400 (second; 54.23), Trevyn Bell in the 110 hurdles (second; 16.6), Daniel Mata in the 300 hurdles (second; 43.6), Erich Crawford in the 300 hurdles (third; 44.65), the boys’ 4x100 relay team of (Naveira, Steven Girod, Vince Reynoso and Jackson Frazier (third) and the boys’ 4x400 relay team of (Naveira, Frazier, Mata and Andrew Wernstrum (third).

Top-three finishers for Burroughs were Brice Edrington in the girls’ 400 (third; 64.79), Giovanna Carrasco in the girls’ 100 hurdles (second; 17.0) and the 300 hurdles (second; 50.53), Nate Macaranas in the boys’ triple jump (second; 38-0), the girls’ 4x100 relay of Brooke Hazard, Edrington, Tamar Hallajian and Kayla Avila (third; 55.06), the girls’ 4x400 relay team of Carrasco, Edrington, Gigi Chamberlain and Gabby Pineiro (second; 4:20) and the boys’ 4x100 relay team of Tee Jay Bual, Timmy Johnson, Matthew Saavedra and Oba Bonner (second; 46.01),
