SOFTBALL Village Christian 2, San Dimas 1: The Crusaders won the CIF Southern Section Division IV quarterfinal game Thursday to advance in the playoffs.

Village Christian (24-5) will take on Olympic League foe Whittier Christian (24-7) on the road at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal contest.

Burbank resident Emily Seidel pitched for the Crusaders, tossing a two-hitter and striking out 13.

Village Christian 6, Beaumont 1: Burbank resident Emily Seidel went three for three to help lead the Crusaders to a win Tuesday at home in a CIF Southern Section Division IV second-round game.

Seidel was also solid in the circle, as the pitcher struck out the first 12 batters she faced. She ended up with a two-hitter, striking out 16.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Village Christian blew the game open with five runs in he fifth inning.


FOOTBALL Burroughs in Spring Passing Classic: The Indians won the consolation championship in the event May 21-22 at Glendale High.

In the consolation title game, Burroughs defeated Verdugo Hills, 33-12, on May 22.

Along with losses to Canyon Country Canyon and L.A. Marshall on May 21, the Indians defeated Glendale, Eagle Rock and lost to Hart in games May 22.
