Hometown Buffet, Empire Center, Victory Boulevard
A restaurant cashier on July 4 refused to hand over money to a potential armed robber because he suspected the gun was a plastic toy. At 7:05 p.m., the would-be thief handed the cashier a note demanding money and stating he was armed. Although he had a gun tucked into his waistband, the cashier told the man he suspected it was a toy. The employee went to find a manager saying he was unable to open the register without a purchase, but when both returned, the robber had gone. The suspect was heavyset, white, in his 40s, 6 feet tall and had short dirty blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a fake blond mustache, a black baseball cap, blue polo shirt and blue denim shorts.
