In a marketplace made especially for moms, more than 500 vendors of children's clothing, shoes, toys and furniture crammed a Burbank warehouse over the weekend for a huge consignment sale.
The event was hosted by L.A. Kids Consignment, which produces six shows a year, two each in Burbank, Santa Clarita and Pasadena. Leftover items are donated to Southern California charities, including Beyond Shelter and the Pregnancy Resource Center of the San Fernando Valley.
The three-day show of used and new goods drew thousands, especially with a 50%-off sale on Sunday.
"We had great traffic," said organizer Kristin Nelson. "We've been doing this for six years, and this was the biggest one yet."
Colleen Casady of Burbank, who was one of the vendors, makes reusable sandwich and snack bags, using colorful designs on cotton with nylon linings.
She was inspired to launch the business when realizing how many baggies her own family used and tossed away.
