Man arrested following attack

April 08, 2011

Burbank police arrested Ricardo Ramirez, 18, at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday in connection with an attack on two men and one woman with a hammer, wrench and baseball bat.

At 9:40 p.m. on April 6, Ramirez, a Burbank resident, and two other men approached the victims, who were standing in a carport on the 2100 block of North Lincoln Street.

One of the suspects, described as Latino and between the ages of 18 and 20, attacked one of the men with a hammer. The woman tried to shield him from the blows and was struck in the arm. The other male victim was then hit in the head with the baseball bat.

The suspect ran to a car and drove off in an older beige or brown 4-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota Corolla, in an unknown direction.

The victims drove to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center and were treated for contusions to the back and head.

Ramirez was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after a criminal investigation led to his identification.

Officers on patrol near an alley at the intersection of North San Fernando Boulevard and North Naomi Street saw Ramirez, and he was arrested.

The two remaining suspects also were Latino, between 18 and 20 years old.
