"That team hit harder and they played faster than any team we played against this season," Burbank Coach Sarah Brown said. "They were also a very disciplined team and they were where they should have been on the court most of the time. They also didn't make very many mistakes."
The Bulldogs were led by Reilly Brennan, who had seven kills.
"I was pleased with the way that we played," Brown said. "We just went up against a team that was better than we were."
Burbank (12-6) finished third in the Pacific League, while Whittier Christian (23-2) captured the Olympic League championship.
The Heralds had a bye for the first round and now move on to the quarterfinal round Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened the postseason Tuesday with a 25-21, 25-22, 15-15, 25-22 victory against Xavier Prep.
Xavier Prep finished as runner-up in the Desert Valley League and suffered just its fourth loss of the season against the Bulldogs.
