Holiday Festival heats up

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Saugus 54, Burbank 48: Damarie Gonzalez registered 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists Tuesday for the Bulldogs in a West Coast Holiday Festival Gold Bracket contest at Bellarmine-Jefferson High. Jamie Gonzalez added eight points and six assists for Burbank (6-4).

Jamie Gonzalez finished with 27 points and Damarie Gonzalez added 23 on Monday to power Burbank to a 77-28 victory over Van Nuys in the West Coast Holiday Festival.

Burroughs 65, Sylmar 16: Aysia Shellmire finished with 16 points, six rebounds and five blocks Monday to lead host Burroughs in an opening-round game of the West Coast Holiday Festival Gold Bracket game. Delaney Nicol added 12 points for the Indians, who got 11 points and seven rebounds from Gabriella Pineiro and eight points and five rebounds from Bailee Trotta.

Canyon 52, Bellarmine-Jefferson 50: Rishonda Napier scored 21 points for the Guards in a second-round Gold Bracket contest of the West Coast Holiday Festival on Tuesday. Jasmine Smith added 10 points for Bell-Jeff (6-5). Smith collected 21 points and Napier added 18 in a 66-55 tournament win over Mark Keppel on Monday for the host Guards.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

Eastside Catholic (Wash.) 59, Providence 57: Marcus LoVett finished with 41 points Monday, but the Pioneers fell in an opening-round contest of the Chaminade Tournament. Providence (8-3) received six points from Patrick Gonzalez.

La Cañada 64, Bell-Jeff 45: The Guards fell in their La Salle/Temple City Holiday Classic opener Tuesday.
