The battle over bags

February 10, 2012

I have to disagree with writer Wesley Greene (“There must be a better grocery bag,” Jan. 24).

As a regular user of cloth bags, I have found making the switch a lot easier. Those little plastic numbers break when something is too heavy in them. Also, they can slip out of your hand.

When carrying my own cloth bags in the store while I shop, I just put them in the grocery cart’s baby seat. What’s so hard about that?

Cloth bags have strong sturdy handles. By putting all six of my cloth bags in my seventh cloth bag, carrying them is a snap. While cloth bags may be a claim to environmental awareness, I think I would use cloth even if we didn’t have environmental issues.

When they get dirty, you just throw them in the wash with your towels. That, too, is a snap.
