Glendale man arrested after evading police in Burbank

A Glendale man was arrested yesterday afternoon after allegedly using his vehicle to ram and break through a security gate to exit a Burbank business on San Fernando Boulevard, Burbank police said.

At about 4 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 3600 block of North San Fernando for a report of a vehicle burglary in progress.

The Burbank Police Department helicopter arrived on scene first and provided a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, Officer Joshua Kendrick said. The Airship observed the suspect use his vehicle to ram and break through a security gate to exit the business.

Elvis Zadouri, 30, was allegedly driving recklessly at an estimated 60 mph on city streets, driving through red lights and driving into oncoming traffic.

Responding officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the suspect failed to yield to the officers, Kendrick said. The suspect continued to drive recklessly, with the officers pursuing behind, and eventually entered the northbound Golden State (5) freeway.

While on the freeway, the suspect slowed significantly due to heavy traffic and eventually pulled to the right shoulder of the freeway and entered a construction zone, just south of Hollywood Way, and stopped the vehicle, Kendrick said. The suspect exited his vehicle and was quickly taken into custody without incident.

It was later determined the suspect’s vehicle had run out of fuel.

Zadouri was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and felony vandalism, Kendrick said.

During the course of the pursuit no citizens, officers or the suspect were injured.
