Good morning, readers. Today is Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Summer Night Lights program, created to curb gang violence, was dealt a blow last week.

Two employees working for Villaraigosa were shot in Sun Valley, and officials believe it's gang-related. Luckily, both of them are expected to survive. Daily News

The last stop of the Metro Orange Line drops commuters off across the street from the Red Line and you're required to make a quick dash, race down stairs, then race down an escalator to catch to the first train in North Hollywood. Metro, seemingly on streak to address customers' wishes (last week they announced expanding weekend hours), is creating an underground tunnel that connects the two lines. Curbed L.A.
