The female victim suffered cuts and contusions to her face, a broken elbow and possibly has internal bleeding in the brain, Ryburn said. Her husband suffered facial injuries, chest pain and contusions and abrasions to his arms and legs.

They were hit by a Honda Civic driven by a 52-year-old Burbank resident who was turning left to go south on San Fernando Boulevard.

"There is no crosswalk, but it is legal to cross there," Ryburn said.

The driver, who was not identified, cooperated with police and was not arrested, Ryburn said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor, he added.
