Good morning, readers. Today is Thursday, August 23 and here are some of the latest local stories from around the Web.

Two women died in Valley Village last night while trying to help victims of an auto accident, Patch reports. They were allegedly electrocuted and several others were injured. 

Almost a dozen people in Los Angeles County are listening to police scanners and tweeting out micro crime reports to thousands of followers, L.A. Times reports. Many inject snarky comments or opinion in their daily tweets.

High school students in Glendale are doing well on a test they have to take prior to graduating. In the last school year, 93% of Glendale Unified sophomores passed the math portion on the high school exit exam and 90% of them passed the English portion. Glendale News-Press

LL Cool J stopped an attempted burglary in his Studio City home Wednesday, Daily News reports. The man apparently entered through an unlocked door.
