Burbank police are trying to determine why a man – described by coroner’s officials as white and in his 40s -- was shot to death outside of his apartment Thursday night in Burbank.
The shooting took place at an apartment building in the 700 block of Providencia Avenue, across the street from Joaquin Miller Elementary School, shortly before 11 p.m., police said.
Officers arrived on the scene after receiving reports of shots fired and found the man lying on a porch. He was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
“He’d just arrived home from work when he was approached and shot several times,” Assistant county Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.
His name was not immediately released.
Burbank homicide detectives are working leads in the case, but no one has been arrested and no motive in the shooting has been determined.
