Burbank sweeps Glendale in track and field

GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank 112, Glendale 23: The Bulldogs won 14 of 16 events Thursday to earn the Pacific League victory on the road.

Burbank had a pair of double winners in Alicia McCord in the high jump (4 feet 10) and the triple jump (31-4) and Kynlee Vuncannon in the shot put (28-1/4) and the discus (87-3 1/2).

BOYS' TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank 94, Glendale 42: The Bulldogs had three athletes win two individual events Thursday in notching the Pacific League victory at Glendale.

While Bernie Corea placed first in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 33.4 seconds) and the 800 (2:04.2), Dennis Palacio won the 300 hurdles (41.12) and the long jump (20 feet) and Andy Hurtado captured the shot put (41-6) and the discus (147-2).

BOYS' GOLF

La Cañada 210, Burbank 219: The Bulldogs fell to the Spartans on Tuesday in a nonleague match at the La Cañada Country Club.

Brady Dunayer paced Burbank with a four-over-par 36. Teammate Dylan Sherry shot a 41, Andy Chang had a 43, Austin Tatka had a 46 and Blake Newton had a 48.

Burbank 224, West Ranch 240: The Bulldogs shot well and won the nonleague match Monday at De Bell Golf Club.

On the par-36 course, Roman Verciglio fired a 40, Andy Chang had a 45, Dylan Sherry had a 45, Brady Dunayer had a 46 and Blake Newton had a 48 for Burbank.

BOYS' VOLLEYBALL

Burroughs d. Hoover, 25-13, 25-20, 25-11: The Indians had an easy time winning the Pacific League match Wednesday on the road.

Dalton Burroughs and Nick Van Loo led Burroughs with seven kills each and Matt D'Almada chipped in with five kills. Ryan Van Loo had 16 assists and Juan Alexis Solano led the defense with 10 digs for the Indians.

SOFTBALL

Burbank 2, Arcadia 0: The Bulldogs pushed across two runs in the fifth inning to win the Pacific League game Thursday at McCambridge Park.

With the win, Burbank (12-1, 5-0) — ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division III — remains in first place in league.

Laina Do was two for three with a double and a run scored. Katie Hooper and Kaitlin Brooks both drove in runs for the Bulldogs.
