Gavin Bushey was sharp on the mound, holding Glendale hitless over two innings, allowing no earned runs, no walks and striking out two.
Angel Villagran recorded the win for Burbank. He tossed four innings of shutout ball. Villagran struck out two, walked none and gave up three hits.
Burroughs 15, Pasadena 0 (five innings): The Indians had little trouble recording the Pacific League win Thursday at Olive Park in a game that was called because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Michelle Santiago paced Burroughs (15-6, 7-2) by going three for three with two home runs, three runs scored and four runs batted in. Teammate Sabrina Espitia had a home run and two RBI and Brice Edrington, Kaitlin Okimoto and Sidney Ortega had two RBI each.
Glendale d. Burbank, 26-24, 25-19, 25-22: Despite the Pacific League loss Thursday on the road, the Bulldogs backed into the playoffs.
It was the league finale for Burbank (9-12, 6-6). The Bulldogs earned a postseason spot in only their second year of varsity play after reviving their program two years ago. They earned a postseason berth after Crescenta Valley (5-6 in league) and Arcadia (5-6 in league) both lost their matches Thursday. The Falcons and Apaches will play one another Tuesday, with the winner grabbing the final playoff spot from the league.
Burbank's Derian Blandon had seven kills and 12 digs, John You had six kills and Jason Gomez had 11 digs and 14 assists against the Nitros.
