Just two of the city's four high school baseball teams qualified for the CIF Southern Section playoffs, and both of them open the playoffs with wild-card games.
Burroughs and Burbank highs will be in action with Division II wild-card games Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (17-8, 12-2 in league) were relegated to the wild-card round despite tying for first place in the Pacific League with Crescenta Valley. Burbank is the No. 2 seed from the league as it lost the season series to Crescenta Valley. The Bulldogs will host Cajon (13-13; at-large from the Citrus Belt League) at 7 p.m.
Burbank Coach Bob Hart said he and his team aren't going to dwell on having to play a wild-card game.
"When you compete in the CIF playoffs, you are going to have to deal with some tough times," said Hart, whose team earned a share of the league title for the first time since 1991. "The wild card is what it is. We're just happy to be in the playoffs and these guys just want to go out there and play baseball."
